Heritage Series – Oakeshott XVIII Sword

NEW!!

Circa 135

Introducing the Heritage Series Oakeshott Type XVIII Sword by Windlass! Windlass Steelcrafts® has reintroduced some of our all-time favorites with several upgrades!

The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic “wet-wrap” process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it’s dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip.

This Knightly German Bastard sword features a long, slightly hollow ground blade and simple straight guard. The classic steel wheel pommel is etched with an abstract, perfectly symmetrical floral symbol. The grip is wood with raised spiral ridges and wrapped in brown leather as is the matching ornate scabbard, which repeats the symbol on the tip and the three attachment straps.

Includes a matching belt with adjustable hanging straps designed for the scabbard.

Truly a knightly sword: German manufactured weapons were prized all over Europe.
