The original sword is believed to have been excavated in\u00a0<strong>France<\/strong>, from a ford near the site of a\u00a0<strong>Battle<\/strong>\u00a0in 1453 at\u00a0<strong>Castillon-la-Bataille<\/strong>\u00a0on the\u00a0<strong>Garonne<\/strong>. It was purchased by the\u00a0<strong>Royal Armouries<\/strong>\u00a0in 1978 and one of a group of over eighty swords discovered in the same find spot.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring a fish-tail pommel, straight guard with swollen terminals, and double-edged blade having a flattened-diamond cross-section.<\/p>\n<p>This type of sword may have been in use during the last years of the\u00a0<strong>Hundred Years War<\/strong>\u00a0and swords like it were carried throughout the\u00a0<strong>Wars of the Roses<\/strong>\u00a0and into the early\u00a0<strong>Tudor era<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This replica is crafted with a hand-forged blade by an experienced, skilled blacksmith using modern 1080 high-carbon steel that is fully tempered and distally tapered for proper weight distribution.<\/p>\n<p>The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features a traditional cut-out.
