US Model 1917 Bolo Knife<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The US military<\/strong> used the same basic bolo knife<\/strong> from the turn of the century through WWII<\/strong>. Manufactured from 1897 to 1918<\/strong>, it went through a number of changes during its production life. First issued to medical personnel in the field it was later issued to fighting troops and used to clear brush, fields of fire and for any task requiring a \u201cchopper\u201d.<\/p>\n

We have chosen to reproduce the 1917 version<\/strong> that was made in great numbers during 1917<\/strong> and 1918<\/strong>. Features a heavy-duty high carbon steel blade<\/strong> that\u2019s properly heat treated in a computer controlled kiln.<\/p>\n

The full tang<\/strong> is integral with the pommel<\/strong> and the dark close-grained wood grips<\/strong> are secured with 2 large bolts. The right<\/strong> side of the blade<\/strong> base is stamped \u201cUS MOD 1917 CT<\/strong>\u201d and the left<\/strong> is stamped \u201cPLUMB STLOUIS 1918<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Includes a No 1 style scabbard<\/strong> that includes a 1918 dated makers stamp on the leather tip; it\u2019s covered in heavy canvas with a heavy-duty brass throat and brass belt hanger for use on standard web belts.<\/p>\n
