One of our all-time favorites, reissued by <strong>Windlass Steelcrafts<\/strong>\u00ae with <strong>several upgrades<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Along with bows and lances, the <strong>Mongols<\/strong> preferred this <strong>slightly curved saber<\/strong>. This <strong>blade<\/strong> profile was extremely swift and devastating in <strong>hand-to-hand combat<\/strong>, whether fighting on foot or from horseback. The <strong>blade<\/strong> provided excellent reach, and the <strong>strong 7\/32\u201d thick<\/strong> <strong>blade was lightened with 14\u201d long fullers<\/strong> to aid swiftness. <strong>Curved blades<\/strong> like this one are perfectly designed for cutting strokes, but the needle-like point makes the thrust equally deadly.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>curved sword<\/strong> seems to have originated on the <strong>plains of Central Asia<\/strong>. After the <strong>Mongols swept out<\/strong> of the area in the <strong>13th century<\/strong>, this blade shape was quickly adopted throughout the east. Even <strong>China<\/strong>, whose early swords were straight, adopted this shape after being conquered by the <strong>Mongol Horde<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>hilt<\/strong> consists of a <strong>hardwood grip<\/strong> and <strong>antiqued brass furniture<\/strong>. The <strong>pommel<\/strong> and <strong>guard<\/strong> feature raised <strong>Mongolian<\/strong> <strong>decorative motifs<\/strong>, as do <strong>the pins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>fancy embossed scabbard<\/strong> has a <strong>brass throat<\/strong> and <strong>chape antiqued<\/strong> to match the <strong>hilt<\/strong>. <strong>Stamped into the throat<\/strong>, in all its glory, is a <strong>majestic eagle in hunting mode<\/strong>.
