This historical<\/strong> bowie<\/strong> reproduction<\/strong> is over a foot long<\/strong> and has a one piece grip<\/strong> and guard<\/strong> that are both made of solid brass<\/strong>. This impressive<\/strong> knife<\/strong> is copied from a unique bowie<\/strong> from early America<\/strong> that is featured on page 56<\/strong> of\u00a0The Antique Bowie Knife Book<\/em><\/strong> (printed in 1990<\/strong>, and one of the first books to showcase a large collection of some of the world\u2019s finest and rarest bowies<\/strong>).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The original<\/strong> knife was unmarked<\/strong>, but the general opinion among knife scholars is that it was probably made by The Ames Manufacturing Company in Chicopee<\/strong>, Massachusetts<\/strong>, which was a large-scale maker of swords, cannons and cannon balls during the Civil War.<\/p>\n

The \u201cfish scale<\/strong>\u201d grip<\/strong> is identical to the 1841 Naval Cutlass<\/strong>, and brass<\/strong> was a rot and rust free material that kept maintenance to a minimum.<\/p>\n

This replica<\/strong> comes with a leather<\/strong> sheath<\/strong> that has the same tooled pattern as the original.<\/p>\n
