Introducing the Heritage Series Pirate Cutlass<\/strong> by Windlass<\/strong>! Windlass Steelcrafts<\/strong>\u00ae has reintroduced some of our all-time favorites with several upgrades<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

The blade<\/strong> has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier<\/strong> and quicker<\/strong>. The scabbard<\/strong> now has a wooden core<\/strong> underneath the leather exterior<\/strong>. The grip<\/strong> features leather<\/strong> that is dimpled using a historically authentic “wet-wrap<\/em><\/strong>” process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it’s dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip.<\/p>\n

Many a bloody-handed pirate<\/strong> of the 17th century<\/strong> clambered over the side of a gold laden galleon<\/strong> armed with a cutlass<\/strong> such as this. Known by many names, “hanger<\/strong>“, “cuttoe<\/strong>,” and “short saber<\/strong>” by infantry<\/strong> or “cutlass<\/strong>” by sailors<\/strong>, this was an exceedingly popular short weapon<\/strong>. The steel basket<\/strong> protected the hand and could be used as an armored fist in the close confines of shipboard combat. High carbon steel blade<\/strong> made by Windlass<\/strong> Steelcrafts<\/strong>\u00ae. Steel p<\/strong>ommel and leather<\/strong>-covered wood<\/strong> handle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Includes leather scabbard<\/strong> with metal<\/strong> throat<\/strong> and chape<\/strong>. The chape features a skull and crossbones medallion<\/strong>. Leather grip<\/strong> and scabbard<\/strong> are dyed a dark green<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
